Joseph L. Grice Sr. was born in Canton, Ohio.  At an early age, he moved to Durham, North Carolina with his mother, Trina Farrey, and older brother, Johnny Grice.  He was added to the body of Christ in 1991 at the Southside Church of Christ in Durham, North Carolina.

Joseph has two children Journi Grice and Joseph L. Grice Jr. and is married to Ava Grice.  He is a graduate of Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas, and has been preaching the gospel for 17 years. On March 19, 2023, he was installed as the Minister at Piedmont Church of Christ in Durham, North Carolina.
